- Concerts in the Plaza featuring Damon Castillo
Local favorite Damon Castillo returns to the Concerts in the Plaza stage, this Friday, August 26th! Each member of the Damon Castillo Band is a master musician with a diverse past that allows them to create a sound that is a statement among today’s manufactured music. The band puts on an exceptional display of a distinctive sound of rock/soul that is uniquely Californian. The band features Damon Castillo, Kristian Ducharme, Larry Kim, Abraham Robles, and Ben Del Giorgio.
- Sponsorship Opportunities Available for Holiday Parade & Holiday Tree
Want to get involved, promote your business and support Downtown? Become a sponsor for our annual Holiday Parade or Holiday Tree in Mission Plaza.
We currently have eight sponsorship opportunities available for our Holiday Parade. Our procession is the county’s most popular event attracting thousands to Downtown SLO. Sponsors receive recognition at all announcer stations throughout the parade route and free entry into the parade. Sponsors’ logos are placed on all print media including Holiday posters, flyers and advertisements as well as in the Downtown Association’s social media platforms, website and weekly newsletters.
We also have a sponsorship opportunity for our Holiday Tree in Mission Plaza. The almost 25-foot tree adorned with lights and ornaments lights up Mission Plaza from the first week of December through New Year’s Day. The sponsor receives signage in front of the tree in addition to logo placement on all print media and in the Downtown Association’s social media sites, website and weekly newsletters.

In late June, the International Downtown Association hosted a week long program for 26 emerging leaders from around the world with an emphasis on more effective downtown management. This was to be the first cohort of the Emerging Leaders Fellowship (ELF) of which I was privileged to be a part of. The program included training about leadership styles and better understanding how to work in teams, Public Private Partnerships (P3), urban place-making, financial analysis of a downtown and current trends in the industry. I realize that on paper that may seem pretty boring to many people but trust me, downtown folks love this stuff and the people in the program amplified its positive energy. Read More
