Meet Our Interns

The SLO Downtown Association welcomes our interns for this quarter, Jackie Steele, Serena Brown and Stephanie Ziegler.  They are all Cal Poly students and as interns this quarter, they will gain experience from our organization by working on projects with our Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market, Downtown Bunny Trail, Downtown Brown’s Birthday Celebration, Concerts in the Plaza, and much, much more!

jackieJackie Steele is a third year journalism student at Cal Poly, with minors in French and Integrated Marketing Communications. As a student in SLO, she enjoys everything from hiking and beaches to exploring different funky coffee shops around town. She spent a semester in France this past Fall, where she was able to feed her passion for travel and learning about new cultures. In her spare time she likes to read and write and spend time with friends and family.

Being an intern at the Downtown Association interests her because she is passionate about the community aspects of San Luis Obispo and hopes to have a role in maintaining that, along with gaining experience in marketing and promotions.

Serena_2016Next, meet Serena Brown.  She is a fourth year Communication Studies Major from San Jose, CA. She most enjoys  travelling and writing and can often be found frequenting cafes in the Downtown SLO area- journal in hand.

She is interested in Events and Promotions, which inspired her to pursue an internship with the Downtown Association. For her last year in SLO, she’s excited to be a part of an organization that works closely with the town she’s come to call home.

On campus she’s involved with the Pilipino Cultural Exchange, taking care of Vice Presidential duties. During her limited free time, Serena enjoys reading, napping, and planning- anything from her next board meeting to her next trip abroad.

stephanieLastly, meet Stephanie Ziegler.  She is a fourth year Sociology major concentrating in Organizations. She hopes to work long term coordinating community events that integrate social services. As a San Diego native she loves the beach and Mexican food. Some of her favorite things to do in SLO County are to drive out to Morro Bay and watch the surfers, go to the Sunset Drive-In, and walk around Farmers’ Market. She has found an incredible community in San Luis Obispo and is excited to work with the Downtown Association.
