07 Jan Welcome Back Woodstocks!
A San Luis Obispo institution for nearly 40 years, Woodstock’s Pizza recently reopened after a significant remodel and expansion that includes several new seating areas, an additional entrance, a renovated bar area, new kitchen equipment, several large screen televisions, shuffleboard, and more. With an additional 3,500 square feet of space, there’s more room than ever to enjoy Football Sunday with a slice!
The renovation shut the restaurant down for several weeks, with intensive construction work involving rotating the kitchen 90 degrees and adding an additional oven to the space to accommodate increased demand. The new layout was designed to optimize workflow for employees but also enhance the customer’s experience by adding 150 seats to the restaurant. Now, you can choose between the “VW bus room,” which can also be rented out for private parties and events, or a “picnic room” with fake grass, pinball, and an outdoor vibe. Muralist Thom Guerra was hired to depict local icons, like the Fremont Theater and Mission Plaza; you can also take a seat in front of the fireplace in four seats salvaged from the Fremont Theater. Co-owner Laura Ambrose states: “Having declined many groups over the years because we simply didn’t have the space, we are thrilled to offer these new group dining options to our community. Our architect, Kevin Bates, our design team and contracting firm, Kain Construction, have truly captured the essence of San Luis Obispo in this new space.”
The revamped space is definitely impacting both customers and employees; says Marketing Representative Carly Jackson-Clark, “It’s nice that [Woodstock’s] genuinely cares about you…Employees are genuinely happy to be here.”
Their delicious pizza recipe and menu have stayed the same, but now you can enjoy 24 beers on tap and a variety of local wines, as well as hand-crafted blood orange lemonade, which is made in-house.
Sweet tooth cravings can be satisfied with their new gelato offerings. As Carly asserts, “There’s something here for everyone.” Pick up your own Slice of the Day at 1000 Higuera Street.
Woodstock’s Pizza is open Monday – Thursday 11AM – 1AM, Friday – Saturday 11AM – 2AM, and Sunday 11AM – 12AM ( Open Early at 10 AM every NFL Sunday! )
