New Downtown Business Report: June 2019

Opened May 17, 2019

570 Higuera Street

Relocated from Paso Robles, Mistura is a modern Peruvian restaurant bringing the vibrant flavors of Peru to San Luis Obispo. Chef Nicola’s inspiration to open a Peruvian restaurant on the Central Coast came from his insatiable curiosity and interest in the fascinating essence, traditions, and influences that created Peruvian Cuisine. Nicola wanted to explore ingredients that embrace new flavors, be challenged by new techniques that bring depth to his creations, and honor Peru’s history and diversity. Conscious ingredients make up Mistura’s menu, and each plate that comes from the kitchen is truly a work of art.

San Luis Obispo has a new waxing and threading option in Downtown. This new business is owned by Kaya Singh who has lived here locally for nearly 10 years. She specializes in threading, a 100% organic hair removal option. The business also offers waxing and lash lifts. Singh has had her eye on Downtown for some time and is excited about the foot traffic Downtown locations enjoy. Welcome SLO Brow Bar!

Rogers Jewelry Co.

Opened June 20!

720 Higuera Street

Rogers Jewelry Co. is new to San Luis Obispo but not to the jewelry business. They’ve been specializing in quality diamonds and jewelry since 1937 and are proud to celebrate more than 80 years in business. Bart Mark, grandson of the founder, is a Cal Poly alumnus, so when longtime jeweler Kevin Main, announced his retirement, Mark knew their similar business model would make Rogers Jewelry Co. a great fit for the Downtown location. The company is happy to be a part of the welcoming Downtown community. They are a full service jewelry store offering retail, repairs, cleaning and custom work. And their recent billboard campaign caught many an eye with its clever “Roger, will you Marry Me?” message.
