22 New Storefront Businesses Open in Downtown San Luis Obispo this year
Downtown SLO attracts a variety of businesses, the majority of which are locally-owned
San Luis Obispo, CA— Since January 1, 2019, Downtown SLO has welcomed 22 new storefront businesses into their BIA (Business Improvement Area) this year. Ranging from retail to restaurants – from specialty fair-trade chocolates to a tattoo parlor – there’s something for every kind of customer to enjoy. Downtown has a healthy mix of local and nationally-owned shops, but a grant total of 17 of these 22 new businesses are locally-owned.
“Downtown San Luis Obispo is a destination for many reasons“ said Chef Nicola Allegretta of Mistura, 570 Higuera Street. “People who are traveling are looking for a retreat, something different than a big city feel. We have it all here; beaches, wineries, hiking and with the new hotels opening up Downtown we’re able to host so many more people to support new business. We opened Mistura here because more people are coming to Downtown from all over the world.”
“I’ve had my eye on Downtown for a while,” said Kaya Singh, Owner of SLO Brow Bar at 781 Higuera. “There’s no better spot for foot traffic.”
New businesses are opened monthly by a wide range of people who recognize Downtown San Luis Obispo as a great place to do business and connect with the community here. Hardworking doers and dreamers celebrate the unique walkability, tree-lined streets, world-famous Thursday Night Farmers’ Market, and the neighborhood feel.
All monthly New Downtown Business Reports (January 2019 – June 2019) can be found at www.DowntownSLO.com with new reports coming each month.
