30 Sep New Downtown Business Report
OPENED IN SEPTEMBER!
736 HIGUERA STREET
SLO Brew has brought a fresh concept to their Downtown location on Higuera Street. Originally home to The Carrisa Cattle Company in 1905, the building housing the renewed restaurant has lodged many other businesses. The Carrisa honors those roots as a brick-and-mortar showcase for the ever-expanding SLO Brewing Co. family of brands. “We’re committed to ensuring the community feels welcome in this space,” said SLO Brew co-founder Hamish Marshall. “The Carrisa is a haven for friends and family to come together in a neighborhood hangout.” The new menu will feature an inventive selection of California cuisine, fresh produce, and an array of specialty craft tacos. An extensive wine list, local beer, and premier cocktails will be available alongside SLO Brewing Co. craft offerings.

The name for The Gallant came to Christian Contreras as he thought about the definition of the word. Noble, kind-hearted, and courageous – a word that could describe Athena, the goddess of war, whose image hangs in his newly opened shop, as easily as it could describe the chivalrous, modern man. A place for conversation and the experience of an outstanding straight razor shave or haircut, The Gallant is bringing modern to traditional grooming cuts to 845 Higuera Street. Next door to Kin Coffee, owned by the Contreras brothers, The Gallant is a family operated business. “SLO has done so much for us” says Contreras, “This is home. It’s where I grew up. We want to be in the heart of San Luis Obispo.”
