We are carefully watching the forecast for Friday night. Currently, our plan is to go forward with the parade, rain or not. We know how hard everyone has worked on their floats and what an enormous undertaking the parade is. Our official holiday parade policy is below. For now, plan to dress warmly, bring bright and shiny raincoats and umbrellas, and weather-proof your floats as much as possible. Let’s let our holiday spirit shine, no matter whether there’s cloudy weather!

HOLIDAY PARADE WEATHER POLICY – It is our policy to avoid canceling the Holiday Parade due to weather unless severe weather will make it unsafe for attendees and participants. The Event Manager and/or appointed parade representative reserves the right to cancel the Holiday Parade at any time, including during the event. In the instance of rain or inclement weather, the Event Manager or representative will decide whether or not to cancel the Holiday Parade by 2PM of that event day. If the event is canceled by a Holiday Parade Representative, a message will be sent to all parade participants to the email address on file for their entry. Also, a text alert will be send out to the cell phone number on file for their entry. It is the participants responsibility to check that inbox for updates. Participants may also call 805-541-0286 for updates. For the public, information will be posted on our website at DowntownSLO.com and on our social media channels, and through City channels.

The 44th annual Downtown SLO Holiday Parade will be held on Friday, December 6, beginning at 7PM at the Palm/Chorro Street intersection.

This year’s theme is Holidays Around the World!
