Meet Our Fall Interns

The SLO Downtown Association welcomes our Fall 2015 interns, Madi Salvati, Haley Hansen, Alexandra Garcia and Rachel Furtado. They are all Cal Poly students and as interns this quarter, they will gain experience from our organization by working on projects with our Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market, Downtown Holiday Guide, Santa’s House, Holiday Parade and much, much more!

Madi Salvati is a second year journalism major at Cal Poly. She is interested in writing, reporting, and hearing peoples’ stories. She is happy to be gaining more experience with the Downtown Association. In her free time she enjoys being apart of the Cal Poly Triathlon Team, reading, and working on her blog.

intern_haleyNext, meet our intern Haley Hansen.  She is a second-year student at CalPoly majoring in journalism and minoring in nutrition. Cooking, blogging, and staying active take up the majority of her free time, but she is also involved in Cru, through Mountainbrook Church, and spends plenty of time laughing with the best friends she has found there. Haley hosts her own blog –, @hungryhaley – which features recipes she has designed, workouts she can’t get enough of, as well as stories and advice related to surviving and thriving as a young, hungry-in-every-way, Christian woman in college.

intern_alexAlexandra “Alex” Garcia is a second year Business major at Cal Poly, planning on concentrating in Marketing. She is from Elk Grove, California. She spent her summer in Florida working for the Walt Disney Company, which pushed her to keep striving for her dreams and gave her the confidence to apply for an internship with the Downtown Association. Alex couldn’t be more excited to be working so closely with the town she loves and getting to be apart of the events that make it so great. When she isn’t at school or working, she enjoys exploring SLO with her friends.

intern_rachelLastly, we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Furtado.  She is a third year journalism student at CalPoly. Rachel is interested in Public Relations and is excited to learn more about field and gain experience interning at the Downtown SLO Association! When Rachel is not busy with school or work, she loves exploring everything San Luis Obispo has to offer.

Want to intern with us for winter quarter?  If interested, please email Megan Grose at  for more information.
