Join us for a beginner clay workshop at The Hangout’s new location in San Luis Obispo! We will be making a Ceramic Coiled Vase! You will learn the basics of working with clay using the coiling method and decorating by sculpting and texturing clay. Adriana Lemus from Night Owl Pottery will guide you through this intro to clay workshop!

The $80 fee includes white stoneware clay, all materials and tools to use during the workshop, glaze and firing, instruction by experienced ceramic artists, AND a beverage! Once your vase is created, you will leave it with the instructor where she will take it back to her studio in San Luis Obispo to be fired, glazed (painted), and fired a second time. This process takes about 4-6 weeks. When complete, the vases will be brought back to the venue to be picked up.

Adriana Lemus was born and raised on the Central Coast and has been working with ceramics for 16 years. She studied art at UC Berkeley and has been running her own business for the past 7 years. Adriana creates functional and non-functional ceramic vessels that are made to connect with the soul. Adriana teaches private throwing lessons in her backyard studio, sells her work at local Makers Markets, online, and is currently working on commission work for restaurants, hotels, spas, and homes.

Due to limited seating and workshop prep, we have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy to reschedule or receive a refund. This will allow us to offer your spot to another guest. However, if you are sick or experiencing any flu like symptoms, we ask that you stay home and reschedule for a future workshop. Thank you for understanding.
