The SLO Creek Restoration Project at Mission Plaza is a three-year community-driven effort led by ECOSLO in partnership with Creek Lands and the City of San Luis Obispo.

This collaborative restoration initiative focuses on revitalizing a key stretch of San Luis Obispo Creek that flows through Mission Plaza—one of the city’s most visible and cherished public spaces.

Throughout the project, volunteers will help remove invasive plant species that threaten native habitat, implement erosion control measures to stabilize creek banks, and plant a diverse mix of riparian native plants and trees. These efforts will improve water quality, enhance wildlife habitat, strengthen bank stability, and restore the ecological health of the creek corridor.

ECOSLO will coordinate quarterly volunteer workdays over the next three years, creating consistent opportunities for community members to participate in hands-on environmental stewardship. By combining ecological expertise with community engagement, this project aims to create a cleaner, more resilient creek ecosystem that will provide lasting environmental and educational benefits for years to come.
