The SLO Jewish community is honored to continue its annual tradition of lighting the public menorah each night of Hanukkah in the SLO Mission Plaza at 5 p.m. This beloved celebration unites friends, families, and neighbors from across the Central Coast to connect, rejoice, and share in the warmth of the holiday. The large SLO menorah stands at the top of the steps of the Old Mission of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa.

On the first night of Hanukkah — Sunday, December 14 — JCC SLO will kick off the festivities with a community celebration, featuring candle lighting, songs, dreidel games, family-friendly activities, and treats. Join us as the plaza glows with blue and white lights.

Everyone in the community is invited to join each night of Hanukkah. On nights 2 through 8, candle lighting will be led by area congregations and Jewish organizations.

Whether you’ve celebrated Hanukkah your whole life or are joining for the first time, all are welcome to experience the light, laughter, and togetherness of the Festival of Lights. Let’s fill Mission Plaza with light and love this Hanukkah, and make it a memorable celebration for the whole community.
