SLO Overdose Awareness Day is a free event held each year on August 31st at Mitchell Park in San Luis Obispo. This annual evening of learning and remembrance is for anyone affected by overdose or substance use and for those who wish to learn more about the issue. We host a resource fair with over a dozen local agencies participating. Several of these agencies provide free trainings in using naloxone, brand name Narcan, the overdose reversal drug and provide it free to participants. We also offer activities including rock painting, a memorial flag display, and an opportunity to create a memorial to loved ones. We close the evening with a ceremony presented by Hospice of SLO County with the Threshold Singers, poetry, and a candle-lighting ceremony to remember and honor loved ones lost to and those affected by overdose. Please join us!
