Become a Vendor

The Downtown SLO Farmers' Market was started in the interest of the Downtown BIA members to encourage foot traffic on Thursday nights. All priority is given to Downtown BIA members who wish to participate.

The following vendors are eligible to apply:

  • BIA - Any Downtown business within the pre-defined BIA boundaries. BIA members are automatically approved and given priority consideration in all categories.

  • BBQ - Operates a BBQ at The Market.

  • Craft/Art - Makes their own product. Resale does not qualify for this. (ex: pottery maker)

  • Performer - Entertainment at the Market (ex: musician)

  • Farmer - Holds a Certified Producer Certificate 

  • Food Artisan - Makes their own food or drink in a commercial kitchen or holds a Cottage Food Permit. Food or drink are meant for takeaway and are not prepared at The Market. (ex: bread baker)

  • Information/Commercial - Generates leads or distributes information about their business at The Market. (ex: real estate agency)

  • Non-Profit - Has a 501 (c) designation

  • Novelty - Provides a service or activity at The Market with a set price. (ex: face painting)

  • Retailer - Has a brick and mortar offering resale items for purchase (ex: clothing store)

  • Political - Has a political filing disclosure form.

  • Prepared Meal - Prepares food or drink for/at The Market for onsite consumption. 

  • Side Street Rental Vendors - Vendor requiring full use of a side street for a special event.

The following vendors are not eligible to participate in the Market at this time:

  • Food Trucks
  • Food Carts
  • Resellers
  • Non-certified Farmers
  • Vendors offering age-restricted products (ex: alcohol, tobacco)

Permits & Licenses Required:

*These are not required to submit an application but will be required to participate if the vendor is approved.

Required for all Vendors at The Market:

  1. City of SLO Business License

  2. Certificate of Insurance

Additional Requirements for all vendors selling Food:

  1. County of SLO Multi-Event Temporary Permit

  2. Operate, partner with, or rent a commercially licensed kitchen or hold a Cottage Food Permit

Additional Requirements for all vendors selling Retail/Art/Craft:

  1. Seller’s Permit

Additional Requirements for all Political Organizations:

  1. Political Filing Disclosure Form

Additional Requirements for all Non-Profits:

  1. EIN number or declaration letter

How to Apply

Applications will be opening soon.

Applications require a non-refundable $40 fee paid annually by new and approved vendors. The application fee is waived for BIA members.

Applications are reviewed by Market Staff and are approved or denied by the Downtown SLO Board of Directors. Qualified applications do not guarantee approval. Approvals are based on current Downtown BIA members, current market vendors, and if the vendor's participation supports the mission and goals of The Market.
