The May Flower Initiative

April showers bring…..May Flowers! Starting the first week of May, Downtown building windows will be painted with environmentally-friendly, temporary paint with floral art themes. Business owners have also created floral displays inside their windows.

PURPOSE

Develop a visual, vibrant experience for people to view safely from cars or bicycles, to remind people that Downtown is a vibrant center for creativity and commerce, and that it will be opening once recovery begins, whenever that time comes.

Artists, Downtown businesses, and property owners have collaborated to create a series of vibrant, bright and colorful temporary flower designs to create a drive-by, bike-by or walk-by art experience for citizens of SLO to enjoy, safely!

Tips on decorating your window:
– Make sure windows, sills, and frames are clean inside and out
– Light up downtown! Keep your window display lights on and consider lighting the flowers themselves!
– Get creative! Use unexpected materials, colors and scale to catch the eye!
