This Pride Month, support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community by shopping and dining at locally owned businesses. These downtown SLO spots are full of heart, creativity, and flavor—and are wonderful to visit not just in June, but year-round.
Breda
After two decades in Michelin-starred kitchens, Florencia Breda brought her culinary talent to the Central Coast, opening Breda with her wife Christine earlier this year. Stop in for decadent pastries, handmade chocolates, and a glass of bubbly or tea—it’s the perfect treat for yourself or someone special.
Blackwater
Originally opened as H&G Clothing in 2005, this family-owned shop is co-owned by Erica Hamilton, who brings her personality and creative flair into every corner. Browse vintage fashion, unique home goods, plants, and cheeky gifts at this eclectic downtown favorite.
The Junk Girls
Founded by artists Jenny Kompolt and Melissa James, The Junk Girls is a haven for handcrafted goods and creative inspiration. Nearly everything is made in-house, from hand-stamped keychains to junk journaling kits, jewelry, and whimsical robots. Shop their collection or sign up for a hands-on workshop on the weekend.
Luna Red & Novo Restaurants
Since 2003, co-owner Robin Covey has helped shape downtown SLO’s dining scene with Novo and Luna Red. These sister restaurants offer vibrant, globally-inspired cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients—enjoy a creekside table at Novo or sip cocktails on the patio at Luna Red by Mission Plaza.
