Get Ready to Roll — Downtown SLO Announces Skate Mission Plaza Pop-Up!
Enjoy a pop-up outdoor roller rink in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo May 2022
San Luis Obispo, CA — Downtown SLO, in partnership with the City of San Luis Obispo, is bringing a groovy new pop-up installation to Mission Plaza this May. Visitors are encouraged to lace up their skates and enjoy an outdoor roller-rink as part of Skate Mission Plaza, presented by Guaranteed Rate. Skaters can enjoy music, a disco ball, and flower-power-inspired decorations all in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo. Skates will be available for rental. This is a ticketed event; tickets and waivers will be required for entry.
All the fun begins Friday, May 6, 2022. The rink will operate seven days a week, with skate sessions beginning at the top of each hour.
SKATE MISSION PLAZA: Monday, May 6 – Sunday, May 22, 2022
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 3 – 7 PM
Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 3 – 9 PM
Sunday: 2 – 6 PM
Skaters will be admitted through online ticketing via EventBrite. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets well in advance, as limited space is available each session. Tickets will be available beginning Friday, April 15, 2022. Ticket will include skate rental, but attendees are welcome to bring their own skates!

The pop-up roller rink will be installed by All Year Sports Galaxy, who have run similar activations in cities all across the United States. The company was founded by Ukrainian Olympian Vadim Slivchenko.
Skate Mission Plaza is a program of Downtown SLO and the City of San Luis Obispo. Our presenting sponsor is Guaranteed Rate. May Flower Initiative
Skate Mission Plaza is part of Downtown SLO’s 2022 May Flower Initiative — a now annual community art project that brings downtown to full bloom. In addition to skating, visitors will be able to take a stroll and admire the work of 50+ local artists in downtown storefronts and windows. The theme of the 2022 May Flower Initiative is “Flower Power”, inspired by retro floral motifs. More activities, including a family scavenger hunt, will be announced in the near future.
